How to use the Direct Burial Lighting Connector

US Patent #9, 425,545

Open top Locking Bolt

Turn the top locking bolt counter clockwise until there is an open pathway through the front of the connector. No need to fully remove the locking bolt.

Strip, Fan & Insert

Strip wires 3/4" - 1", Fan and Pre-Twist wire ends then insert the into the connector as far as the wire will travel. Copper ends should be past the locking bolt.

Hand tighten Locking Bolt

No need to over tighten. The locking bolt will press against the wire jacket and NOT the bare copper ends; giving it a better hold and secure connection.

For a Clean Installation

Press the male end of one connector into the female end of another connector. This will group your connectors together leaving a clean looking Installation.

What's wrong with the other connectors?

It's all about Expansion and Contraction

The natural occurrence of expansion and contraction happens when the connector heats up and cools down. This can be from the environment, repeated cool evenings and warm days. However it also happens in the wire itself. As the natural warming and cooling happens the wire jacket will also expand and contract. All together this causes the connector to come loose.

Loose connection happens most frequently with twist on type of connectors. Built with an internal metal spring like mechanism, the occurrence of expansion and contraction is more profound because of the two dissimilar materials (plastic and metal). Each material expands and contracts differently.

Even if you started with a tight connection, over time expansion and contraction will cause it to come loose over time.

The Q-Loc™ Connector

What makes the

Q-Loc™ Landscape Connector Different?

Our connector was designed to eliminate the effects of expansion and contraction. The wire ends are twisted together and pushed inside the connector. The unique locking bolt then tightens down on the jacket of the wire (which just happens to be the strongest part), and pinches the jacket between the bottom jaws and the bolt itself.

This moves the tension point (aka - stress point) to the outside of the connector specifically the jacket and not the copper wire. **The other connectors stress point is at the copper wire**

The copper wire stays surrounded and water tight inside the cavity by the waterproof material.

Just to make your connection even cleaner, we designed the Q-Loc™ a natural brown color, and the ability to group together. All to keep the connectors from standing out in your landscape.
